A number of the BHP WayPhones, being distributed at railway crossings along the 430-kilometre stretch of railway line from Port Hedland to Newman in Northern Western Australia, have been connected via a radio network, whilst the remaining terminals were connected to CDMA, believed to be the first installation of its kind in Australia to date.
All sites are solar powered and consist of Crossing flashing lights in the remote areas, in addition to lights and boom gates within the town of Port Hedland.
