Clearsonics WayPhone Named
Top Australian Innovation
Emergency communications systems developer Clearsonics
has taken out the Secrets of Australian IT Innovation Communications
Award.
Australia's Minister for Communications, Information
Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan, presented the award
to CEO Jon Newbery at a ceremony in Sydney.
The competition, which is designed to give Australian
companies the opportunity to showcase their innovative products
and ideas to national and international audiences, attracted close
to 200 applications from all states and territories.
"The 2003 competition winners reported new
business in excess of $3.2 million due to their involvement in
the competition and their participation in international showcase
events," said Senator Coonan.
The competition is judged by a panel drawn from
leading legal firm's technology practices, venture capital community,
media, market research organisations and major overseas corporations.
Mr Newbery said it was encouraging to be selected among a finalist
list that included some of the leading names in Australian innovation.
"Clearsonics is continually developing innovations based
on customer requests,' Mr Newbery said.
